Slingshot Info and Tryout Schedule

BCHL is preparing for our 2025-2026 Slingshot Season.   The Slingshot program was established in 2006 as an option for our House League Players in Novice U9, Atom U11, Peewee U13, Bantam U15 and Midget U17 who are interested in advancing their hockey development at a higher competitive level.   

The BCHL “Slingshots” Program is a DEVELOPMENT program which means you still play on your designated house league team and participation would be in addition to the BCHL house league program. This is an opportunity to practice one extra time per week, participate in scheduled exhibition games, and attend 4 tournaments within the season.

On behalf of all the Slingshot Coaches, we would like to invite out all eligible House League Players to 2025-2026 Tryouts. 

The Tryouts for Slingshots will begin at the end of September 2025, there are 3 tryouts to attend, registration is online for each tryout. The first tryout is an open tryout for everyone, and the third tryout is by invitation. 

The Slingshot season runs from October 2025 - March 2026.

We have worked closely with  BCHL house league to minimize conflicts, however, occasionally there may be a crossover, and you will need to make every reasonable effort to support your house league team throughout the year (for both games and practices).

Each Slingshot  team is able to carry up to 15 skaters and 2 goalies, with the potential to carry 4 alternates (AP Players) per team.  

The AP Program is designed for players to continue to develop their skills, and will be invited to practices, exhibition games and tournaments.  They will have the opportunity to play in games / tournaments to replace injured or sick players.

Selected Drills will be age/skill level appropriate and are geared towards advancing each players skill level.

We have also carefully selected devotionals that will help to build character both on and off the ice.

Eligibility is as follows: 

• Novice U9 players must be born in the years 2017 or  2018 (or younger)
• Atom U11 players must be born in the years 2015 or 2016
• Peewee U13 players must be born in the years 2013 or 2014
• Bantam U15 players must be born in the years 2011 or 2012
• TBD - Minor Midget U17 players must be born in 2009 or 2010 ( 6 eligible spots for 2007)
• TBD - Midget U18 players must be born in 2008
• No overage players are permitted in any division. Underage players will be considered based on skill level

Costs and Registration:

All Tryouts are $20 with the final being by invite only. All payments and registration are through
BCHL registration web page. Please note we may need to split the tryouts into multiple groups
to be able to control numbers. 

Cost for the season is as follows:

          Cost -   $840.00 includes all tournaments (4), practices, exhibition games, jersey and socks.

     AP Cost -    $400.00 includes practices and jersey and socks.
